Family therapy

As your family's advocate, my mission is to boost your ability to thrive together. Parents of teens dealing with mental health challenges, I’m here to help you navigate the teen scene. Got a family face-off? Let’s tailor some strategies for teen substance use, anxiety, depression, self-harm, and anger. We're turning family dynamics into a positive journey!

With you through the Laughs and Tears

In our sessions, I’m not just a therapist; I’m authentically me. I’m here to sit with you through moments of sadness and uncertainty, sharing in your pain. But I’m also ready to laugh and remind you not to take life too seriously. Life is a journey with its ups and downs, and I’m your co-pilot.

Been there, Overcame that

I understand the struggles of being a teenager because I’ve been there myself. My own battle with severe anxiety during my teen years taught me the importance of healing in connection. It was through joint therapy with my family that I discovered the strength to conquer my anxiety and self-judgment.

Your Family Bridge

As a young therapist, I deeply empathize with both teenagers and parents. I consciously step into the shoes of both generations to address your family’s unique needs. My mission is to bridge the gap, fostering understanding and cooperation between parents and teens.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Many extended health benefit plans can cover or subsidize the cost of counselling services with an RCC. After every session, you will be provided a receipt for services which you can direct to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

The look and feel of a session with me varies depending on your needs and presenting concerns. In general, sessions last 50 minutes and include a check-in around how you are doing, time to identify a goal for the session, work time, and a summary/wrap up before ending. Subject to my availability, sessions can occur as frequently as you wish; most people meet with me weekly or biweekly.

Therapy is expensive! I can totally appreciate that it can feel like a big investment. If you are facing financial barriers, reduced-cost services will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please book a free consultation with me for more information.

Of course! My ultimate goal is to cultivate a space that feels private and safe for you to share whatever is on your mind. If you are seen as an individual as well as a family or couple, we will discuss what information you are comfortable sharing with your loved ones. If you are a teen, you can receive services without parental or guardian consent, so long as you are a minimum 12 years of age and deemed capable of giving informed consent. As with all RCC’s, there are a few exceptions to confidentiality which concern safety and legal circumstances. These include:

  • If a person under 19 or an otherwise vulnerable individual is at risk of harm or neglect.
  • If you are at an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others.
  • If our records are subpoenaed by a court of law.

Additionally, please note that I may consult with a supervisory team who aid me in providing you the best service possible.
